Rodney businesses talk the talk
Businesses from across Rodney are talking their way to success following the launch of a new networking series in the area.
More than 180 local business people attended the inaugural The Effective Network (TEN) at the Orewa Arts and Events Centre this week to learn essential networking skills before trying them out first hand.
For local businessman Max Carpenter, from P.T Adventures in Matakana Country Park, the evening was a success.
“The event was most rewarding and I am now talking to a fellow attendee about a joint venture. The insider tips on networking were very helpful and I now understand why at past events I was the one left in a corner trying to enter the fray!” says Mr Carpenter.
Hosted by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), the event is the first of its kind in the area and will be followed by regular breakfast and evening networking sessions designed to engage local businesses.
Manager, Business Development Ngaio Merrick would like TEN to become essential on the local business calendar.
“The Rodney district plays a hugely important role in the economic success of the Auckland region. It is encouraging to see so many local businesses engaging with each other with such enthusiasm and realising that, when done effectively, networking is an essential business tool.
“There is a high demand for this sort of engagement and we are happy to provide regular events to bring businesses together to help grow their ventures,” says Ms Merrick.
Chair of the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, Julia Parfitt, is urging even more businesses to get involved.
“I have already been in touch with three contacts from the event - If that type of interaction is repeated across the180 attendees it will lead to some really amazing networking and outcomes,” says Ms Parfitt.
The next TEN event is on Wednesday 3 August. Businesses can register to attend at www.ens.org.nz/TEN
