Treble Cone Ready and on Standby to Start the 2011 Season
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (June 21, 2011) – With one day to go until Treble Cone’s scheduled opening, lack of snow and unusually warm temperatures have resulted in the mountain delaying the start of its 2011 season.
Continuing warm temperatures have only allowed for a small number of snow making bursts and hardly any natural fall resulting in very little snow cover to date.
Despite the lack of snow, over 170 hospitality, ticketing and operational staff underwent a full season training programme last week. With all mountain and snow making staff on standby, Treble Cone is ready to open at the earliest opportunity.
‘We’re excited about this season and are raring to go. It’s hugely frustrating for both customers and staff but there is not a lot we can do about the situation until temperatures drop. We have a strong team in place and some fantastic new initiatives for this season and are all very keen for the season to begin. We will open as soon as we’re physically able’, said Nigel Kerr, Treble Cone’s marketing manager.
With school holidays taking place later this year due to Rugby World Cup, there is still plenty of time for snow to fall before the busiest time of the season and pre-booked ski camps and programmes, a sentiment that is echoed throughout the region with all ski areas in the Southern Alps currently holding on.
Treble Cone has a strong focus on snow sports skill advancement and for 2011 has many exciting programmes on offer including the exclusive Sofa Ski Improvement Camps. Ski school will continue to offer a wide range of programs and camps from the Ladies Ski Improvement weeks to the Riders & Sliders or TC Freeride programme for younger snow sports enthusiasts
Treble Cone will open with celebratory Amisfield bubbles for the first skiers and riders on the lifts. For more information visit www.treblecone.com.
