CUSTOMER NOTICE
LPC OPERATIONAL STATUS
After achieving a return to service within 96 hours after the 13 June shocks (excluding coal exports), we’re continuing
on a prioritised path of remediation works that will continue for some time.
Navigational aids in the Lyttelton Harbour have been assessed and are all operational, with the exception of the
Sticking Point light which has had to be removed due to earthquake damage to the breakwater. Our electricians are
currently looking at installing a temporary structure.
While all berths have retained mooring capability, Cashin Quay 1 and 2 have restricted access, and no cargo transfer can
occur across these berths at this time.
Our staff and contractors continue their work to ensure that vital goods and commodities can move safely through the
port. We would like to thank all our customers for their continuing support and patience.
CONTAINER TERMINAL OPERATIONS
Since resuming container operations we have now completed four vessels with over 2600 container exchanged. While
exchanges were slower than normal, vessels worked well under the circumstances. Vessels completed are MSC’s Conti Harmony, PIL’s Kota Permata, Pacifica’s Spirit of Endurance and the Maersk Radford.
Repair work will continue throughout the week as we look to return to pre-June 13 service levels.
Berthing windows remain suspended until further notice.
We understand there are some delays to R at the terminal. This is due to congestion caused by the backlog of vessels and also damage to pavement areas. Work
continues on reinstating pavement. We’re also working hard to get through the vessel backlog. We would ask again that
where possible delivery of export cargo is delayed as long as feasible.
GENERAL CARGO OPERATIONS
All urgent remediation work on the Inner Harbour wharves was completed last week, allowing these wharves to be
reinstated. We’re pleased to report that J2, J3, J7 and the No.1 Breastworks are now operational again.
A successful weekend of shipping progressed for General Cargo. In summary:
The MV Hibernia completed loading logs on No.7 wharf and sailed midday Saturday
The Milburn Carrier II arrived in port Saturday morning to commence cement discharge at No.1 Breastworks
The MV Jin Xing Ling completed discharge of fertiliser on No.2 wharf and sailed Sunday evening
The Trans Future 6 arrived Saturday evening on No.7 wharf and completed discharge of vehicles. MDF loading was completed Sunday and the
vessel sailed Sunday evening
The Vega Venus arrived in port Sunday evening and commenced loading of scrap steel on No.2 wharf
The Spirit of Resolution arrived in port Sunday evening and completed a container exchange on No.7 wharf as normal.
Further remediation work will be required in a number of areas in the Inner Harbour and this will be scheduled for the
coming weeks. Operations will continue during the scheduled works and will be minimally impacted. However, customers
should expect some traffic routes on and off wharves to be down to one lane.
OIL BERTH OPERATIONS
The Oil Berth is set to commence operations on Wednesday (22 June) with the arrival of the LPG vessel Maea. The coastal tanker Kakariki is scheduled to arrive the next day. Another three vessels are scheduled for later in the week or early next week.
Ongoing monitoring of the Oil Berth will continue as normal.
CITYDEPOT OPERATIONS
As mentioned previously, CityDepot is operating normally.
