NZ National Fieldays 2012 Premier Feature Announced
Warwick Roberts, Ag Fieldays Chairman, today announced the 2012 Premier Feature for New Zealand National Agricultural
Fieldays is The Changing Face of Farming.
"Our country's agricultural scene is evolving at an ever-increasing rate. Farming today is incredibly different than it
was, say 20 years ago. In fact, in many ways, it's quite different than it was just five years ago.
"For instance, there are many more corporate farms today than in the past. And, if you're getting into farming, there
are a range of ownership structures that are possible for people just starting out.
"Then, we have factors such as weather patterns and scarcity of water and other natural resources which have had huge
impacts on the industry in recent times.
"Also, when we look at the types of people getting into farming, we see major shifts. For instance, there is a large
Maori contingent having tremendous success in the rural industry. We're also seeing more and more women moving away from
their traditional supportive roles and taking the lead when it comes to farm management.
"Our theme for the 2012 Premier Feature will raise farmers' awareness of the many changes happening in New Zealand's
agricultural industry. Through the Feature, we will provide solutions for tackling today's - and tomorrow's - key
challenges," explains Mr Roberts.
For the past two years, the Premier Feature at Fieldays has focused on providing hands-on knowledge and tools for use by
managers and staff on farm. In 2012, the theme is more about highlighting what's happening in the big picture throughout
New Zealand's agricultural industry.
"At Fieldays 2012, we want to help signal to current farmers and our younger people coming into the industry, exactly
what they will be facing and how to be prepared for the shifting rural landscape," says Mr Roberts.
Organisations interested in booking space for the 2012 Premier Feature must be a commercial business to be eligible to
display. Bookings can be made by visiting www.fieldays.co.nz , phoning 07 843 4499 or emailing fieldays@fieldays.co.nz .
