CUSTOMER NOTICE

LPC OPERATIONAL STATUS

Yesterday’s aftershocks, upgraded by GNS to magnitudes 5.7 and 6.3, caused further damage to Lyttelton Port of Christchurch infrastructure and facilities. The port was already damaged extensively in the September and February earthquakes. The latest earthquakes have impacted on the programme of repair work that was already under way.

Our priority, as always, is the safety of our staff and we can advise that fortunately there were no injuries sustained at the port or at CityDepot.

The full extent of the damage to the port from these latest quakes is being accessed. Our engineering and civil maintenance staff, and supporting consultants, are working through detailed assessments across all of our assets.

Our goal is to return services safely and as soon as possible. We will provide regular updates.

CONTAINER TERMINAL OPERATIONS

An initial engineering assessment of container assets is that wharves have been further damaged. In addition, new cracks have appeared in areas paved since the February earthquake.

Receival and delivery of containers is operating. However, we do not envisage that stevedoring of container vessels will return to normal until after midday Friday.

Berthing windows have been suspended until further notice.

We are currently working with KiwiRail and we anticipate normal rail operation to and from LCT to resume Wednesday.

GENERAL CARGO OPERATIONS

Remediation work on the Inner Harbour wharves will be undertaken over the coming days, and we will be remediating structures based on shipping priorities.

We envisage that General Cargo operations will commence once again on Thursday morning. However, limitations remain on CQ2 for car vessels.

The log yards are operational and log receival is operating as normal.

Receival and delivery of containers is operating at No.7 wharf.

OIL BERTH OPERATIONS

Further damage has been sustained at the oil berth, including further settlement of land. Engineering assessments are continuing today and testing will continue through tomorrow.

We expect the oil berth to be operational for the first vessel due next Monday, 20 June.

CITYDEPOT OPERATIONS

After an assessment of all assets and pavement, and a realignment of some container stacks, CityDepot has resumed normal operations. We are currently working with KiwiRail and anticipate normal rail operation to and from CityDepot to resume Wednesday. Page 2

In summary, our clear focus is on ensuring that goods and commodities are moved safely through the port.

We would like to thank all of our customers for their understanding and patience in what again is proving to be a stressful and busy time for everyone.

Personally, I wish to acknowledge the incredible effort from the LPC team, and our contractors, whose aim is to ensure that customers’ and community needs are met.

Our thoughts are again with all the families of Canterbury who are affected by these latest difficulties.
