KiwiRail resumes services after latest earthquakes

KiwiRail freight services today resumed in Christchurch after the latest earthquakes in Christchurch, and passenger services are to resume tomorrow.

KiwiRail chief executive Jim Quinn said track and structures inspections had cleared the lines north, south, and west of Christchurch this morning, and freight services had resumed.

The Tranz Alpine passenger train service between Christchurch and Greymouth is to resume tomorrow (Wednesday 15 June 2011).

The line between Heathcote and Lyttelton is still under repair.
