*Intergen celebrates 10 years of business growth*

Intergen is celebrating 10 years of providing business technology to New Zealand and Australian companies and government agencies. Over the past decade, the company has grown from 38 employees to nearly 300 people in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Sydney, Perth and Redmond, USA.

The company has become a key player in New Zealand’s IT industry and has made a significant contribution to the New Zealand economy. Over the last 10 years,

• Intergen has put $108 million in salaries back into the economy.

• Approximately 800 staff have worked at Intergen.

• 26% of Intergen’s employees have been women, in an industry often dominated by men.

• 72 graduates have passed through Intergen’s graduate programme and learnt valuable on-the-job skills. Many are still with the company today.

• Intergen has helped foster and incubate a number of successful start-ups that have gone on to create jobs locally and to generate export revenue.

The company has worked hard to deliver innovative solutions that deliver good value to its clients and has received recognition for this, winning Microsoft partner awards in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, including overall New Zealand Partner of the Year awards in 2008 and 2010.

For Tony Stewart, Managing Director at Intergen, having great people on board has been key to the company’s successful growth: “It’s really important to have a successful business, but at the end of the day I can’t see the point of it unless you are benefiting the people in the business,” says Stewart. “The things I’m most proud of are the people that we’ve worked with and the positive influence that we’ve had on their careers.”

“Intergen has typically grown at 30% per year, which – putting on my accountant’s hat and doing some rough sums – means we double in size about every three years. Following this equation, in 10 years’ time, we’ll be a $264 million company with more than 1,500 staff,” says Stewart.

“Looking forward at what’s in store for Intergen over the next 10 years, I think the idea of cloud computing will continue to grow,” says Stewart. “Intergen will continue to take advantage of the latest technology such as the cloud to provide our clients with intelligent business solutions.”
