Harcourts say less than half the fallout reported for Them
Harcourts CEO Hayden Duncan reports no loss in the number or real estate agents within his company.
“Nationally we have had had considerably less than half the fallout reported across the industry which is miniscule compared to reports and reflects the constant state of our listings and steady settled sales results,” says Mr Duncan.
“In Auckland particularly we are seeing a lift in the number of listings, auctions and commercial listings.”
Despite a tough market, especially in Christchurch, Harcourts have seen an extremely small shift in outgoing Sales Consultant figures and as Cooper and Co Real Estate’s Matty Ma from Albany says it’s about the more resilient real estate agents making it count when they need to.
Mrs Ma, recent multiple-award winner regionally and nationally, knows the market has changed and says strong agents will show their worth through hard work now, seeing the results later.
“With my experience and having a wide range of properties on the market, I believe the market has changed. It’s a tougher market than previously but I think it is easier for stronger agents to survive, as they prospect harder in preparation for the next market change to arrive.”
“I think now is a great time to prospect harder, and be more active, to prepare for the changes ahead,” Ma comments.
In response to Ray White’s comment regarding the drop particularly in rural sales Harcourts have today appointed a full time Rural Sales Manager to keep up with the demand and delivery of support and resource streams provided to rural and lifestyle agents.
Harcourts have many tools and resources available for their Sales Consultants, existing and incoming, which see it as a major plus in what some say, are ‘tough times.’
“We have an outstanding suite of training modules both online and classroom based within our organisation. We ask our consultants what courses they need; we look at market conditions and then assess what will be most useful to upskill the experienced and the not so experienced,” says CEO Hayden Duncan.
“We not only work with our Sales Consultants but with our Business Owners too. Regulations change and tighten and consequently so to do the tools and subject matter of our training courses. As a result our Business Owners are efficient operators, leaders and managers.”
“In times like this it is all about retention and that is something that is always in our training and development strategy.”
“There still needs to be a certain number of completed transactions to earn a living when you’re an agent, over and above any training and qualification gained; but when you are supported by the tools and resources such as in our organisation, there is an ability to earn a very healthy living from real estate.”
“So I would extend an invite to all the agents who have left the industry to come and see us,” invites Mr Duncan.
