FedEx NZ Recognised as One of the Best Employers
FedEx New Zealand Recognised as One of the Best Employers for the Third Time
FedEx Awarded “Special Commendation” in Aon Hewitt’s
Best Employers in Australia and New Zealand Program
AUCKLAND, May 30, 2011—FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has been named Accredited Best Employer and received a Special Commendation in the 2011 Aon Hewitt’s Best Employers in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Program.
This is the third time FedEx New Zealand has been recognised as an Aon Hewitt Best Employer. FedEx New Zealand was named one of the Best Employers in 2006/7 and 2008, and in 2009, FedEx New Zealand was recognised as a “highly commended” participant.
“We are indeed honoured that Aon Hewitt has again named FedEx Express New Zealand as one of the Best Employers in Australia and New Zealand,” said Mr. Kim Garner, managing director, FedEx Express Australasia. “This recognition the commitment of FedEx to its People-Service-Profit (PSP) philosophy and its on-going initiatives in making FedEx a great place to work.”
“FedEx believes that our employees and the values they exhibit such as teamwork, determination and commitment are our biggest asset. This is why our PSP philosophy is based on the belief that if we treat our people right, they will deliver exceptional service to our customers, who in turn reward FedEx with their business and loyalty, creating a profitable enterprise that can provide job satisfaction and job security for our people,” he added.
FedEx has programs in place to support its people-first culture and one of its long-standing practices is developing talents from within. More than half of FedEx global management team have risen through the ranks of the company and 100% of the current FedEx New Zealand management team have been promoted from within.
The Aon Hewitt Best Employers in ANZ Program is an accreditation process consisting of three stages including an employee opinions survey, people practice inventory and organisational audit. Organisations have to meet the criteria for the three stages to be accredited for the year. A total of 200 companies were involved in the 2011 study, with 124,000 employees contributing to the employee opinion surveys. 130 of those surveyed organisations went on to participate in the accreditation process. Out of the 11 organisations that achieved Aon Hewitt Best Employer Accreditation, FedEx and another organisation were shortlisted by an independent judging panel for the Best of the Best award, with FedEx given a Special Commendation at the award ceremony held in Sydney.
Apart from New Zealand, Aon Hewitt has also named FedEx as one of the Best Employers (2011) in Malaysia and Singapore, as well as the Best Employer for Women (2011) in Korea. FedEx has also been ranked as the 8th most admired company according to Fortune Magazine’s Most Admired Companies list this year.
