Contractors welcome Waterview draft consent
The draft decision to grant consent for construction of the Waterview Connection will be boost the civil construction industry at all levels, says the New Zealand Contractors’ Federation.
NZCF Chief executive Jeremy Sole welcomed the draft decision by the Board of Inquiry to grant the New Zealand Transport Agency consent to construct Waterview, the first roading project to be considered using the new national consenting process.
“This is a major step forward and very much to be welcomed,” said Mr Sole.
“As well as creating a transport solution for Auckland, with all the associated economic benefits, it is also a significant project in terms of showcasing the engineering capability of New Zealand’s civil construction industry.
“It will also provide tremendous opportunities for small to medium sized contracting companies and suppliers who will sub-contract to the consortium that wins the tender process.”
