Coopers Creek named Winemaker of the Year by the Cambridge Food and Wine Society
Coopers Creek Vineyard has been awarded the prestigious Riedel Wine Maker of the Year Award by the Cambridge Wine and Food Society, joining a group of prestigious wineries that includes Robert Mondavi (USA) and Lamberto Marchesi de Fresocbaldi of Italy. The award recognises outstanding achievement and contribution to the wine industry and was presented by the New Zealand High Commissioner Andrew Needs to Coopers Creek owner Andrew Hendry on May 18th, in Toronto.
The Cambridge Food and Wine Society is a notable Ontario, Canada association that promotes fine cuisine, wine appreciation and hospitality sector education. It was founded in 1988 and in addition to its gourmet dining focus, provides annual scholarship funds to accomplished high school, university and community college students.
Coopers Creek Vineyard is a family owned, Kumeu-based winery, that crafts a range of award winning fine wines: New Zealand's favourite styles as well as intriguing international varietals. The winery is fuelling demand for stylish aromatics such as Arneis, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Gris and Viognier, in addition to its outstanding pedigree with Chardonnay, Syrah and Bordeaux reds. Coopers Creek is a major wine exporter, with almost 85% of its sales to international markets. It was the first supplier of New Zealand premium wine to Canada and remains one of the most popular brands in that market. ends
