Stadium preview sure to please
Just less than two months out from completion of Dunedin’s largest infrastructural development in decades, Forsyth Barr
Stadium is opening its doors again to celebrate the momentous progress being made.
An Open Day is being held on Saturday 11 June from 11am – 2pm and will be the last chance for the public to view the
Stadium prior to completion on August 1.
Malcolm Farry, Chairman of the Carisbrook Stadium Charitable Trust says, “We’re now so close to the finish line,
anticipation is building by the day. In the twelve months since the last open day, the site has completely transformed.
This is an opportunity for the region to come down, view the magnificent pitch, the finished roof and get a feel for the
atmosphere that the Stadium will provide. I’m sure the public will be pleased with what they see.”
Entry will be a gold coin donation or $5 for a family with all proceeds going to the Otago Medical Research Foundation.
The Foundation’s Director of Development Steve Davie is delighted the Foundation will be the charity for the Stadium
Open Day.
“To have Dunedin and Otago folk enjoy a stroll through this magnificent facility while supporting a most worthy and
home-grown charity is terrific news,” Steve says.
“The Foundation has made a huge contribution to global medical research over the last 40-plus years and is determined to
continue in that vein.
“To have the support of the Dunedin and Otago community through this Open Day is a great boost for us with the money
raised going directly towards this year’s grants and scholarships,” he says.
