University of AucklandRecognised as CFA Program Partner
University students trained in CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge will have strong foundation for CFA exam
preparation and career success
Auckland, New Zealand, 24 May 2011 — CFA Institute announced today that The University of Auckland has been officially named as CFA Program Partner with their program Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance. This recognises the degree program, which covers at
least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge including the CFA Institute ethical and professional standards, and the University of Auckland as a thought leader in the academic and professional investment management communities
well-positioned to contribute to the lifelong learning pursuits of over 100,000 CFA Institute members worldwide.
“Students in these programs are exposed to the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, concepts and principles that have been identified by investment experts worldwide as essential to global practice. By
mastering these fundamentals of the CFA Program, students will be well on their way to earning the highly-valued CFA
charter,” said Ashvin Vibhakar, CFA, managing director of Asia-Pacific Operations, CFA Institute, at the signing
ceremony with The University of Auckland.
Recognition as a CFA Program Partner signals to students, employers, and the marketplace that the university curriculum
is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the three levels of CFA
exams.
The CFA Program Partner initiative was launched in 2006 with the announcement of Saïd Business School at the University
of Oxford as the inaugural CFA Program Partner. Currently, there are 135 CFA Program Partner institutions around the
world, which includes 32 in the Asia-Pacific region.
Professor Greg Whittred, Dean of Business School, University of Auckland, says, “We are very pleased to be able to
partner with CFA Institute in this way. The CFA charter represents global designation in the financial sector, and
provides important external validation for the relevance and impact of the Business School programs.”
Students in the programs will gain access to CFA Institute textbooks, journals, webcasts, and other educational
resources.
