Millbrook Resort Maintains Leading Position as Five Star, Four Season Resort
Nearly two decades on, Queenstown’s Millbrook Resort continues to collect international accolades for its excellence as a leading accommodation destination, golf resort and spa facility.
Over the past year Millbrook has been named among the best resorts in the world by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, recognized as one of the Top 10 Spa Hotels by Gayot.com, awarded the leading Golf Resort in Australasia at the World Travel Awards and named the world’s best golf resort by Luxury Travel and Style magazine.
The five-star resort was selected in April to showcase the very best of New Zealand hospitality as the host of a 70-strong Chinese delegation in New Zealand to mark the launch of China Southern Airlines direct air services.
Always innovative and committed to proactive development of its markets, General Manager David Onions says the resort was recently ‘first off the block’ to capitalise on the slow but steady resurgence in the US visitor market.
“We’ve formed a strong partnership with IDNZ, New Zealand’s leading destination management company, which resulted in Millbrook enjoying high hotel occupancy levels over summer, largely due to these high-end incentive market visitors from the States.”
Mr Onions said he was delighted with ongoing success of Millbrook and its enviable position in the global tourism market.
“It’s a huge credit to the whole Millbrook team,” he said. “The sales team is incredibly driven and there continues to be many opportunities across our national and global markets.”
As a lifestyle resort, Millbrook also has an expanding residential community with freehold housing arranged around its stunning golf course developments. This housing sector is experiencing a boom with property sales over the first five months of the resort’s financial year totaling $12.5 million, of which $8.27m related to new property developments.
Residential construction currently underway at Millbrook is estimated to have a collective value of $13.5 million. At present a number of private homes are under construction at the resort’s western site and an additional two ‘high-end’ homes are in the pipeline.
