Mark Joiner appointed chairman of JBWere
May 20, 2011 - JBWere, a leading provider of private wealth management and investment services in Australia and New Zealand, has announced that Mark Joiner will be appointed as chairman of its Board of Directors, following the announcement that Michael Ullmer is stepping down.
Chairman designate Mr Joiner is Executive Finance Director and Group CFO at NAB and is a member of NAB’s Board of Directors. Before this he was Group Executive General Manager Development and New Business, having originally joined NAB in 2006 as a member of the Australian Executive Committee.
Prior to joining NAB Mr Joiner was Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for Citigroup's Global Wealth Management business, based in New York. Before entering banking, he was with strategy consulting firm Boston Consulting Group for 16 years, working out of various Australian and US offices.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant, and has an MBA with distinction from the University of Melbourne.
JBWere Chief Executive Officer and Board Member Paul Heath said JBWere felt honoured to have an incoming chairman of the calibre and experience of Mr Joiner and that the firm will benefit greatly from his guidance.
“Mark has a distinguished career in financial services having worked with a number of prestigious organisations across several continents. He also spent time as CFO at Smith Barney in the US and so brings good perspectives and experience of wealth management to JBWere. We look forward to welcoming Mark to our Board later this year,” said Mr Heath.
Mr Heath also thanked outgoing chairman Mr Ullmer, saying that the firm was incredibly fortunate to have had someone of Mr Ullmer’s calibre as our chairman during its early years under the alliance structure between NAB and Goldman Sachs & Partners.
“Michael’s work with both our people and our clients has been outstanding during this period and he has been incredibly influential in shaping our future direction. We have been privileged to have had Michael as part of our firm,” added Mr Heath.
Mr Joiner’s appointment takes effect from 19 July and he joins fellow Board Directors Patricia Cross, Paul Heath, Andrew Rothery and Steve Tucker, along with board advisers Terry Campbell and Stephen Fitzgerald.
