Samsung forms technology partnership with Hoyts
Samsung joins forces with Hoyts Te Rapa to provide a unique cinema experience
AUCKLAND, New Zealand – May 16, 2011 – Samsung has announced it is partnering with Hoyts Te Rapa, Hamilton, to provide moviegoers with the very best innovation and technology.
The soon-to-be-opened Hoyts Te Rapa cinema complex will be a mecca for movie lovers offering 1,300 seats, six digital movie screens – all with digital 3D capabilities – an Xtremescreen, a food emporium and bar, and a concept cinema.
Samsung will add to this already impressive offering by providing screens and software for large format displays in the foyer of the Te Rapa complex, including one of the largest video walls in Australasia.
This video wall will consist of 48 panels of Samsung’s 46” slim bezel LCD screens. The quality of the image displayed, combined with the sheer size of the wall, will provide a remarkable visual display as patrons enter the complex.
As well as being ultra-thin, the LCD screens are also virtually seamless, ensuring images appear clear and complete rather than broken into sections. The picture from the video wall is further amplified by high brightness levels and a dynamic contrast ratio which add to image quality.
The wall will use Samsung’s MagicInfo, software to drive and manage content to the screens. Samsung MagicInfo has a powerful professional user interface that enables the creation and control of an extended network environment without the need of a dedicated PC for each individual display.
Samsung New Zealand Country Manager, Mr. Chang Kim, says it’s exciting to see progressive technology being used in both functional and fun ways.
“This partnership is a great example of how Samsung technology and innovation can extend from the home into other areas of our customers’ everyday lives.”
Hoyts General Manager, Brian Eldridge, said the partnership is a natural fit for the Hoyts brand.
“Working with cutting edge technology fits in with our overall aim of providing an innovative premium cinema experience and we’re delighted to have Samsung on board as a key technology partner.”
In addition to the video wall, a number of other Samsung large format displays will be integrated into the Hoyts Te Rapa complex. These include thin bezel large screens hung in portrait style in the ticketing office to display ticketing information and session times. These screens fit the Hoyts Te Rapa and Samsung aesthetic of being both functional and stylish at the same time
Samsung offers a range of large format displays for all types of environments such as outdoor, touch screen, digital whiteboards, and is pleased to be able to exhibit this innovative technology in the exciting Hoyts Te Rapa venue.
