KFC’s Double Down

With KFC's new bun-less burger flying out the door, KFC warns some of its stores may run out of the hotly anticipated Double Down burger over the weekend.

"Demand for the Double Demand has been massive. We'd always anticipated big numbers, but Double Down sales are up an unprecedented 500% on what we had forecast," says KFC General Manager Brent Kitto.

Kitto says KFC is doing everything it can to keep pace with demand, but there is a chance some of its stores may run out over the weekend.

He says Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin stores in particular have been massively busy and are expected to be hit hard over the weekend.

"We apologise if anyone misses out over the weekend. Remember Double Down is a fresh chicken product and new product is being delivered daily, but we just couldn't have foreseen these numbers.

“Our suppliers should catch up early next week and we trust that if anyone misses out on their KFC Double Down over the weekend they can hold out until then."
