New President for NZ Property Investors Federation
At an Executive meeting held recently, Andrew King was elected as the new President of the New Zealand Property
Investors' Federation.
Established in 1983, the Federation has twenty affiliated local associations situated throughout New Zealand. It is the
national body directly representing the interests of over 7,000 property investors on all matters affecting
rental-housing. The Federation also benefits the roughly 300,000 rental property owners who are not members of a
Property Investors' Association.
Mr King takes over from Martin Evans who held the position for the past four years and contributed greatly to a better
rental property industry for landlords and tenants.
During Martin's tenure he saw the successful introduction of the residential Tenancies Amendment Act last year, which
involved countless meetings with Politicians, Government Agencies, Rental Property Owners and Tenant groups.
This Act helped to rebalance the rights, obligations and penalties imposed on landlords and tenants, producing a better
system for the successful running of one of New Zealand's largest and important industries.
Martin has also successfully argued against unjust tax changes for rental property that some vested interest groups
wanted introduced. Because of his work in this area the rental price increases currently occurring are not as large as
they could have been.
Martin is a prominent Property Manager in Christchurch, with his workload expanding tremendously since the February
earthquake.
The Federation Executive are extremely grateful to Martin for the immense effort that he has put into his role as NZPIF
President.
As the new President, Mr King hopes to continue the excellent achievements that Martin has obtained, creating a business
environment that allows people to provide good quality homes for New Zealanders.
