Grey Power expresses concern over young adult unemployement

Employment opportunities

The Grey Power Annual General Meeting held at Hamilton expressed concern at the high numbers of unemployed in the under 24 age group and urges that the Government, with support from all Political Parties, work towards having all these young people receive suitable training to enable them to be employed productively as a matter of urgency.

There are shortages of trained Trades workers and the country will need trained people able to be employed in trades and industry as we come out of recession.

Having the younger end of the workforce unemployed is a waste of the most valuable resource that this country has.

We urge that more training is provided by the polytechnics, and Government encouragement must be made to Employers to train more apprentices as a matter of priority.
