InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) and .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) are proud to announce the launch of the
2011 Australia and New Zealand Internet Awards (the ANZIAs).
Now in their third year, the ANZIAs are an annual event celebrating the achievements of organisations, businesses and
individuals that have made significant contributions to the development and use of the Internet in Australia and New
Zealand.
ANZIA winners receive recognition as industry leaders, for setting new standards in making the Internet a more
inclusive, accessible and safe place. The Awards also offer winners public and industry exposure, positive media
coverage, networking opportunities, recognition of hard work for staff and volunteers and a $2500 cash prize for
eligible entrants.
Entries are invited in six categories:
* Security and privacy
* Internet access & digital skills
* Innovation
* Information
* Diversity
* IPv6
auDA’s CEO, Chris Disspain, applauded the ANZIA’s ability to bring disparate stakeholders together. “The ANZIAs are not
about recognising a narrow or obscure field of technical achievement, but rather recognise and reward people from all
walks of life that use the Internet to enrich our collective cultural, social and economic experiences”, said Mr
Disspain.
InternetNZ’s Chief Executive, Vikram Kumar agreed, “The Internet is a wonderful platform for innovation, delivering real
value to people and businesses. The ANZIAs is a great way to know about these and to celebrate the achievements of
passionate individuals and organisations.”
In their first two years, the ANZIAs have recognised the online achievements of a tremendously diverse range of
organisations, including CanTeen, The National Library of New Zealand, the NSW Rape Crisis Centre, Deaf Aotearoa New
Zealand, Hector’s World Limited, Darwin City Council’s - GRIND Youth Initiative and RSPCA Queensland.
The ANZIAs website is now open for pre-registrations. Interested parties can register to receive additional information
about the history of the Awards and how-to-enter guidance. Applications open on 1 July and close on 31 August, with
