Samsung Launches SMART LED TVs That Take Home
Entertainment to the Edge
New SMART LED TVs deliver a connected experience into the home, with ultra-thin bezel design and an even broader line-up of 3D
Auckland, New Zealand – April 13, 2011 - Samsung New Zealand today announced its new range of SMART LED TVs, redefining the home entertainment experience and adding a touch of elegance, connectivity and luxury to any home. Samsung has released 25 new LED models, meeting growing demand from consumers for the screen technology.
“Samsung’s new SMART TVs open up a new era of immersive and inclusive entertainment,” says Rachael Cotton-Bronte, Marketing Director, Samsung Electronics New Zealand. “Our new LED TVs have once again redefined the traditional television and given consumers a centre piece in any room.”
Samsung’s 2011 line-up combines elegant styling with a wider range of higher-end features previously only available in the most premium TVs. The new SMART TVs offer richer connected entertainment options delivered through wireless internet connectivity, which includes:
•Web Browser - full Flash-supported web browsing right on your TV, and all while you continue to watch your show or movie
•Social TV – join in conversations on Twitter, Facebook and Google Talk on your TV screen while simultaneously watching your favourite TV program or movie with picture in picture support
•Samsung Apps - the world’s first HDTV-based application store which offers a range of apps that help people connect to their various passions – whether sports, entertainment, information, games or social networking.
•Search All - making it easy to search for desired content on your TV and other DLNA-certified devices, networked PCs and mobile devices, plus Internet and video-on-demand services
•Your Video - which delivers movie recommendations based on a user’s viewing history
Samsung led the TV industry in 2010 with the launch of the world’s first Full HD 3D TV. As 3D content becomes more prevalent, the company has opened up 3D technology into a broader range of TVs. To this end, 16 of the new LED models offer 3D technology, making enjoying 3D movie, broadcast and game content more accessible than ever.
Samsung Series 8 LED TV - The Ultimate Entertainment Showpiece
The first thing you notice about the new Series 8 LED TV (D8000) is Samsung’s ‘One Design’ concept, creating an edge that is barely visible, allowing the TV to blend in with its environment to deliver a more immersive viewing experience. Its barely visible 5mm brushed metal bezel provides a fine line that subtly frames the rich content on the screen and enhances the TV’s light form factor. The Series 8 LED TV continues the minimalist style of the 2010 Series 8 range, using an improved Quad Stand to ensure ultimate harmony between the TV and its environment.
With a 200Hz refresh rate, 2 millisecond motion picture response time (MPRT) and improved LED backlight scanning, this CES Innovation Award honoree offers true-to-life 2D, 3D and Full HD images with outstanding clarity. In addition to the Ultra Clear Panel, the TV offers Micro Dimming technology to provide the richest, most lifelike pictures with deep blacks and pure whites. Samsung has also introduced a new standardised motion clarity measurement known as Clear Motion Rate (or CMR). CMR is a combination of panel refresh rate, video processing chipset and the backlight technology which together controls how clear a moving picture is on screen. The Series 8 LED TV has a CMR of 800.
The Series 8 LED TV has a built-in Wi-Fi connection and offers many convenient ways to manage and display content through Samsung’s Smart Hub portal. The TV can connect to other devices using AllShare (DLNA) or Samsung’s patented One Foot Connection via the Wireless Router. In addition, Samsung offers a full QWERTY Remote that puts functionality in the user’s hands like never before. The Samsung Series 8 LED TV is available in a 55” (RRP $5,999.95) and 60” (RRP TBC) screen size.
Samsung Series 7 LED – Bespoke Design Features and True-to-Life Picture Quality
The Samsung Series 7 LED TV (D7000) represents a successful balance of high technology with minimalist design aesthetics. The stunning 5mm black bezel is framed by a jewel-like transparent bezel that uses Samsung’s Crystal Design, based on dual-injection mold technology to refect a hint of red along the edge. The Quad Stand is slimmer than the one introduced in 2010, yet its lower height manages to keep the TV stable and strudy while maintaining an air of elegance.
For 2011, the Series 7 LED also incorporates improved backlight scanning technology and Auto Motion Plus, Samsung’s proprietary frame interpolation algorithm, to create sharp 2D and 3D pictures and smooth frame transitions without blurring, even for video moving at top speeds. 3D picture quality is also improved as a result of Samsung’s new 3D Peak Algorithm and the TV has a CMR of 600. The Samsung Series 7 LED TV is available in two screen sizes – 46” (RRP $4,299.95), 55” (RRP $5,499.95).
The Ideal Value Model TV for an Immersive and Smarter Experience
For the consumer looking to embrace SMART TV functionality as well as 3D, the Samsung Series 6 LED TV (D6600) is the ideal all-in-one solution , offering stunningly clear Full HD pictures and dynamic 3D Sound.
The Series 6 LED TV also offers Samsung’s narrow bezel design to deliver a more immersive viewing experience. The prism-like Crystal Design thin bezel has a hint of colour that is barely visible from the front, but intensifies as the viewer moves to the side to minimise distractions while watching 3D, 2D, HD or streaming content. Featuring integrated wi-fi, versatile full web browser and access to a wide range of Samsung Apps, the Series 6 LED TV (D6600) is available in four screen sizes – 40” (RRP $2,499.95) and 46” (RRP $3,199.95), 55” (RRP $3,999.95) on launch, and 60” (RRP TBC) later this year.
