Appointment of new Chairman – Turners & Growers Ltd

20 April 2011

Appointment of new Chairman – Turners & Growers Ltd

Turners & Growers Limited announces that Rob Campbell has today been appointed Chairman of Turners & Growers Limited effective Thursday 21st April 2011.
Mr Campbell replaces as Chairman Tony Gibbs who has resigned from the Board effective at the close of business on Wednesday 20th April 2011.

Mr Campbell said “I wish to thank Tony for his extremely valuable contribution to Turners & Growers during his 16 years as Chairman and we wish Tony all the best for the future. During Tony’s tenure Turners & Growers has grown from a domestic fruit and produce seller into a significant player in the international fresh produce industry. In the meantime Tony will continue to advise Turners & Growers on kiwifruit regulatory issues.”

Mr Campbell said “Turners and Growers is a great and growing business. We have strong brands, strong assets, strong people and a strong future.

The announcement of a strategic review by Turners and Growers and the earlier statement from GPG of an intention to realise value for its shareholders, does not indicate any weakness.

The Board and GPG as its largest shareholder confirm their commitment to all aspects of Turners and Growers current business and future plans.

To the extent that the future of Turners and Growers includes ownership changes, this will be based on recognition of inherent value in the company and supportive of further growth.

Suppliers, customers, staff and investors can be confident that Turners and Growers is continuing to grow and expand its business.” ENDS
