Sovereign appoints new General Manager Adviser Distribution

Sovereign is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrice de Marigny as General Manager Adviser Distribution. Patrice replaces Mark Collins who is now CEO, New Zealand Home Loans.

Sovereign Chief Distribution Officer, David Haak says it was following an exhaustive search that de Marigny emerged as the outstanding candidate most clearly suited to fill the role.

“We are delighted to have Patrice on board, “says Haak. “His extensive experience in the financial services sector has seen him emerge as a leader with the ability to build and grow high potential divisions and businesses.”

“With the advent of regulation, Patrice will lead Adviser Distribution through a period of fundamental change and renewed growth as we respond to the challenges of the external market.”

Prior to his move to Auckland, Patrice spent the past six years at Standard Bank, Africa’s largest Bank.

His most recent role at Standard Bank was Managing Director of Vehicle and Asset Finance, a division with an annual turnover of USD $3.8b. His responsibilities included risk and compliance, marketing, operations and sales with a staff complement of 1,700 (including a national sales team of 550). His market segment accountabilities spanned Institutional, Corporate, SME and Retail.

Patrice is a highly experienced financial services executive, with a strong background in sales, marketing, strategy and product development. He brings a wealth of experience, and is capable and willing to take on a variety of challenges within the New Zealand market.

He began his career as Technical Manager with VMC, a national transport consultancy in South Africa, and was quickly promoted Regional Coastal Manager. When VMC was sold to Nedcor, one of South Africa’s largest banks, he became the National Sales and Relationship Manager before moving to key management roles within Nedbank. Patrice has also held significant roles at Brand Pretorius South Africa’s largest Motor Group and debis a division of Daimler Chrysler and South Africa’s largest leasing company.

Patrice takes up his new role with Sovereign on 4 April 2011.
