Earthquake legal advisory team established
Kensington Swan has set up an Earthquake legal advisory team in the wake of the recent Christchurch earthquakes.
The team brings together experienced legal experts in construction, property, employment, government, and government relations, among others.
Kensington Swan partner and construction specialist Mary Haggie says the earthquakes triggered numerous requests for legal advice, in particular from owners and tenants of commercial property in Christchurch and Wellington. In addition, there have been requests for advice from employers, government departments and non-government organisations.
The team will provide advice on issues relating to all aspects of the earthquake law, including:
• Property and leasing
• Construction and infrastructure
• Employment
• Government relations
• Emergency legislation
• Health and safety
• Insurance
• Environment and resources
