Slingshot Releases Relief Package for Earthquake Hit Christchurch Customers
The New Zealand owned Telco, Slingshot, has today unveiled a package of emergency relief measures to help its Christchurch customers who have lost their landline phone or Internet connections.
Any Christchurch Slingshot customers who are moving homes, or moving away from the devastated area will receive a relocation calling package that offers a range of benefits.
Announcing the package today, Slingshot CEO, Mark Callander, said, “We are a Kiwi company and we want to help our customers through this extraordinarily difficult
time”.
Callander said 26% of Slingshot’s Christchurch customer base has been impacted. Customers are unable to use their services because of line damage, power failure or their business and homes are too damaged to enter.
Amongst the initiatives are:
• Free redirection to your landline or mobile phone for the time you are away from home or until you relocate
• No charges for services that haven’t been used since the earthquake for up to three months and then the position will be reassessed on a case-by-case basis
• There will be extended payment terms for people who are under financial strain as a result of being unable to work
• Waiver of early termination fees to those adversely affected on a case-by-case basis
Mark Callander said the company would be running a media campaign on radio this week to reach customers and tell them where to find information about the relief package.
“We just want to help, and urge our customers to either go to our website, www.slingshot.co.nz, or ring us and let us know their situation on our priority helpline 0800 89 2424”.
