LG Motorsport ends Bamber contract
The Auckland-based LG Motorsport team has terminated their contract with Wanganui driver William Bamber.

LG Motorsport has two cars running in this season’s BNT V8s Championship with the LG-ZB Falcon driven by current championship leader Angus Fogg while the LG-ZM Falcon has been driven by 16-year-old Bamber for the first five rounds.

LG Motorsport team principal Martin Rotteveel cites unresolved contractual issues as the reason for the contract termination.

“It is a straightforward contractual issue that regrettably had only one possible outcome,” says Rotteveel. “We wish William the best of luck for his future racing; we enjoyed working with him through the early part of this season and trust the experience and race craft gained in this premier NZV8 series will stand him in good stead.”

The #9 LG-ZM Falcon will be back on track for the final two rounds of the season, fulfilling the team’s sponsor commitments. Rotteveel says an announcement regarding the replacement NZV8 driver will be made prior to the penultimate championship round in Taupo on 12 and 13 March.

The LG Motorsport team is supported by LG Electronics, The Radio Network (Newstalk ZB, ZM and Radio Hauraki), Suzuki NZ, Q-West Boats, Pit Stop, Arnott’s Shapes, LG Mobile, NZV8 Magazine, iSign it, Jones Haulage, TradeZone Pukekohe and Punch Advertising, with Fogg’s direct sponsors including Mount Shop, Strapping Systems (NZ) Ltd, Fromm Packaging Systems, Affordable Partsworld, Segedin’s Auto Spares, Brenics Transport, Transvisual Panel & Paint and Delo.
