Westfield Goes Red For Christchurch
WESTFIELD GOES RED FOR CHRISTCHURCH
Westfield's NZ shopping centres are going RED in support of the people of Christchurch.
On Friday 4 March, Westfield staff and retailers across New Zealand will be wearing RED to fundraise for the NZ Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal and they're encouraging their shoppers to do the same.
For every dollar donated to the Appeal, Westfield will match donations dollar for dollar. To get the ball rolling, Westfield are donating $250,000 and will match donations from retailers, staff and customers up to a further $250,000.
"After the Christchurch earthquake in September 2010 we pledged our support to the Red Cross appeal," said Westfield New Zealand's Director, Justin Lynch. "Once again we provide our support to the people of Christchurch via the honourable efforts of the NZ Red Cross.
"RED DAY is a time to show a sign of unity for Christchurch. We hope to see a sea of RED in our centres - to show the people of Canterbury that Kiwis across the country are standing shoulder to shoulder with them."
Red Cross volunteers will be collecting at Westfield Centres across New Zealand for the NZ Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal from Friday to Sunday.
Westfield's Riccarton Mall is the largest shopping centre in Christchurch. At present, the majority of the retailers on the ground floor are open however Farmers, Level Two stores and some Rotheram Street stores remain closed.
"Our thoughts continue to be with our staff, retailers and their staff and the people of Christchurch who have been affected by the earthquake", adds Lynch.
