Jan Dawson to join Air New Zealand Board

Jan Dawson, currently the chair and chief executive of KPMG, will join the board of Air New Zealand on 1 April.

Ms Dawson has more than 30 years experience as a lead audit partner with many of New Zealand’s major companies as well as experience in the UK and Canada. She has more recently been a regional board member of KPMG Asia Pacific, a board member of KPMG Australia and a councillor of KPMG International. Jan is also chair of Yachting New Zealand and deputy chair of Counties – Manukau District Health board amongst a number of community involvements.

In welcoming Jan’s appointment, Air New Zealand Chairman John Palmer said it was great to be able to attract one of the country’s outstanding financial professionals to continue the board renewal process. At the same time it is sad to announce the retirement of John McDonald, who will leave the board at the end of March. John has been an enormously respected member of the board for the past nine years. His contribution, particularly in the finance and superannuation areas, has been very significant and he leaves with the very best wishes of the board and the whole company.
