Post Services in the quake-affected area Update

New Zealand Post Services in the quake-affected area Update
Saturday 26 February 2011

New Zealand Post services will be up and running in a limited form from next week. The main mail processing centre has escaped the quake relatively unscathed and parts of the delivery branch network will be able to be made operational.

Postal Services
It is anticipated limited postal services will resume on Tuesday 1 March. This will be dependent on what areas are cleared by the authorities, are deemed safe for our staff to access, and also on staff availability.

New Zealand Post is holding all mail and will update customers on this website on which areas it will be able to deliver to following further reconnaissance of affected areas and information from the authorities.

All mail for the affected areas will be delivered where possible. For those addresses where this cannot be achieved we will hold the mail at an alternative location for pickup where a redirection is not in place. Details of pick-up sites will be published next week from Tuesday 1 March 2011.

Free Mail Redirection
New Zealand Post is providing free mail redirection services for residential customers in the earthquake affected areas. Customers can apply online at www.nzpost.conz or apply at PostShop/Kiwibanks.

PostShop/Kiwibank stores
The following PostShop/Kiwibank stores in the Christchurch/Canterbury area will be open on Monday 28 February;
