Local business stars sought
The search is on to find the top business achievers in south Auckland through the Westpac Auckland South Business Awards 2011.
The annual local business awards were launched last night by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development Ltd (ATEED), one of Auckland Council’s subsidiaries.
Free to enter, the Westpac Auckland South Business Awards are now the only business awards for the south Auckland region.
Auckland Mayor Len Brown says the awards recognise and celebrate success, encouraging local businesses to prosper while ultimately driving economic growth for the region.
“The business awards showcase the excellence that is being achieved by businesses, urban and rural, large and small, throughout Auckland’s south.
“I urge local businesses to take this opportunity to highlight their success and that of their business community as a whole through this initiative. This is a great chance to celebrate local people and a local focus,” says Mayor Len Brown.
ATEED is organising the Westpac Auckland South Business Awards, which culminate in a gala dinner held at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre on 12 August 2011.
ATEED’s General Manager Business and Sector Development, Clyde Rogers, says the Westpac Auckland South Business Awards are a unique opportunity for local businesses to be recognised for their achievements, role as an employer and contribution to the wider Auckland South community.
“The business awards celebrate the achievements of our most successful economic partners and highlight the ones to watch in future. All businesses in the south Auckland area have the opportunity to gain valuable recognition, increased exposure and important networking and benchmarking opportunities by participating,” says Mr Rogers.
“Entries are now open and close on 3 June 2011. Our staff are available to assist with entries.”
This year’s awards feature expanded categories and eligibility areas that recognise all sizes of businesses from those with a handful of staff, through to major organisations.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for Auckland South businesses, both big and small, to recognise their own hard work and achievements,” says Steve Jurkovich, Regional Manager – Northern, Westpac Business Banking.
“As proud supporters of national, regional and local business, Westpac is thrilled to once again be associated with these prestigious awards.”
Eight businesses were honoured as winners in 2010, from stalwart Bluebird Foods Ltd through to Envirofert, a resource recovery business and entertainment experience venue, Spookers.
