CAA’s one.govt Solution, Voice & Hosted IPT service go live

CAA’s new one.govt Solution, Voice and Hosted IPT service go live

Datacraft’s Communications as a Service (CaaS) offering will provide improved functionality with immediate and ongoing cost reductions

New Zealand, 16 February 2011 – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) went live this week with one.govt services deployed by Datacraft.

This service suite replaces CAA’s existing WAN and telephony solution and includes: one.govt WAN with additional Internet, Voice Gateway and Hosted IPT services based on Cisco UCM infrastructure; and a replacement for CAA’s LAN and wireless networks. The solution is topped off with the one.govt Service Management Portal to help CAA manage and monitor their network in near real-time with ease.

Our existing system required significant time and money to maintain, says Arthur Devitt, CIO, CAA. “Like many government agencies, we have limited resources to efficiently manage our own telecommunications platform. We looked for a trusted partner to help us reduce our dependency on internal resources while providing us with a reliable, cost-effective and future-proof solution.

“The additional Voice Gateway and Hosted IPT services will give us an end-to-end service that is easy to manage, provides clear service accountability, and additional functionality while giving savings throughout the life of the contract.”

Datacraft’s Hosted IPT solution offers a number of benefits over an on-premise system including reduced setup costs, increased flexibility and scalability, improved security, and enhanced continuity of service. The service offers a number of optional components including Hosted Voicemail, Advanced IP Telephony monitoring and reporting, Call Accounting and Presence. As a fully managed offering, the service contract includes support, monitoring, reporting and administration.

“We have been working with CAA for over 8 years now,” says Robin Hartendorp, Managing Director, Datacraft New Zealand. “The delivery of this service marks a major milestone for both CAA’s technology strategy and our own in growing our capability in providing Communications as a Service (CaaS).
“We now have over 30 government and commercial clients that we deliver successful Unified Communications solutions to and are pleased to be recognised as a reliable strategic partner in this field.”

Launched in December 2009, one.govt is the Open Network Environment telecommunications service that connects the offices of government agencies Already more than 400 offices from 18 agencies are using the Cisco powered one.govt network and enjoying its advantages. The service allows agencies to achieve significant cost savings through collective buying and provides a platform to integrate other solutions such as Voice, Video, Security and Storage.
