Outsourced Marketing Concept Introduces Order to Chaos
A new company which specialises in providing outsourced marketing resources is promising more rapid growth for local businesses over the next decade.
Volom is a new marketing group created by mathematician and former Saatchi & Saatchi advertising specialist Paul Wilkes.
The new business model is designed to offer New Zealand businesses the expertise and resources previously available only to large corporations without the high cost.
Wilkes says Volom is an industry first offering a full-range of marketing services and solutions for any type of industry. Small and medium sized businesses can have access to senior level staff at the specially negotiated rates available through the Volom business network.
Volom in essence becomes a senior level marketing manager with tangible experience and up-to-the-minute marketing advice and extensive industry networks, he says.
“After developing a strategy, the marketing manager will work remotely and has access to teams of expert suppliers to implement the tactical initiatives.
“The agreed monthly fee paid is a fraction of what it would cost to have a marketing manager in-house. The resulting efficiencies go straight to the client’s bottom line,” says Wilkes.
Building on the limitations of some of the creative environments he has been exposed to, Wilkes has created a set of proprietary methodologies which introduces a process frame work into a creative environment bringing significantly more order and effectiveness.
These processes are used by each marketing manager to first audit their clients’ needs, then plan and implement a measurable marketing strategy.
Each Volom team member has been chosen by Wilkes to ensure they are the ‘best in the business’ at the same time committed to maintaining low overheads.
“We have been careful in selecting only the very best people, people who are leaders in their chosen fields and who bring a high level of quality, service and integrity in their business dealings and in the work they do for our clients,” says Wilkes.
Wilkes, who has spent more than a decade in the telecommunications sector in marketing and strategic management positions, says during a tougher financial climate having access to excellent marketing departments is crucial for business success.
“The benefit of a virtual marketing department like this means there are senior heads that are able to walk the talk, who have had the benefit of experience and who know how to make the marketing dollar stretch as far as it possibly can.
“They know what works and they know what doesn’t and the benefit of that high-level of expertise to a small to medium business owner can ultimately lead to the success or failure of their venture,” he says.
Wilkes says in the past many businesses have been limited in their options when it comes to their marketing staff resources and are often forced to hire junior staff due to a lack of funds. Alternatively some choose to go it alone or use a creative agency.
Wilkes says the Volom model addresses this by providing expert resource at an affordable cost so these business owners no longer have to compromise on quality marketing support.
Wilkes says Volom marketing managers also play valuable roles in the wider management of their client’s business.
“We end up doing all sorts of things, from pitching for new business, attending partner negotiation meetings, interviewing for key staff and even securing and designing office space.”
Wilkes says often cashflow means that business owners do not have the luxury of being able to afford in-house support or the quality of marketing support that a tightened market requires.
Volom is able to address this with the provision of high-level expertise at significantly lower cost than permanent salaried staff, he says.
