Management of agronomic trials of fertiliser

The Fertiliser Quality Council, (FQC) has set up a Fertmark Expert Panel to establish industry agreed Fertmark protocols for the management of agronomic trials of fertiliser products.
FQC chair, Neil Barton, said he was pleased that Emeritus Professor Russ Tillman had agreed to head the panel.
“For too long farmers haven’t been able to compare apples with apples when considering the research behind claims made for some fertiliser products,” Neil Barton said. “With the new Fertmark Expert Panel working, farmers should be able to assess promotional claims, more accurately assess nutrient requirements of their soil and make appropriate fertiliser purchasing decisions.
“Simply put - all trial results will be singing from the same hymn sheet.
“It will also provide the FQC Executive Committee with a standard to compare fertilisers when claims are made.
“This is a major step forward, made more so by the fact we have been able to recruit a person of Russ Tillman’s stature to get the show on the road.
“Farmers can be pleased that trial procedures in the future will be more equivalent so comparative claims will be consistent for fertiliser products.
“That will greatly aid fertiliser purchasing decisions,” Neil Barton said
