“Meet the Makers” at Salvare Wines Monday 27th December
Following the huge success of the inaugural “Meet the Makers” wine fair at Beach House Wines last month, the second event will provide the ideal festive holiday entertainment being held on Monday December 27th at Salvare on Ngatarawa Road, Hastings.
Spokesperson for the Hawke’s Bay Boutique Winemakers Chris Wilcock from Ash Ridge Wines said the holiday event would provide the perfect day out for friends and family visiting the region.
“We would love to see as many visitors as possible and we can guarantee a superb day of boutique wine tasting and sales, music and great food in the stunning Salvare vineyard setting with free entry.”
Complementing the wines will be delicious food including the Paella Guy, Salvare Platters, Twyford School, Roosters Ginger Beer and fruit ice creams and Aurum Coffee. Music from George Smith and the Kawekas will be filtering through the vineyard throughout the day.
Monday 27th was chosen to avoid any clashes with Boxing Day activities in the Bay.
Last month’s event was the first for the recently formed Boutique Winemakers Group, which includes 14 small Hawkes Bay wineries, employing joint marketing initiatives.
More than 550 people turned out to Beach House Wines at Te Awanga for the event which will now be repeated at different small venues around the region throughout the year, on the last Sunday of every month.
Chris Wilcock said the Group was delighted to see
such a good crowd for the first wine fair.
“People are
really keen to taste wines while chatting to the winemakers
and growers – it just makes it unique.”
Visitors were mainly from Hawke’s Bay but international wine lovers were also pleased to be able to see the variety of wines showcased in one place, on one day he said.
Eleven wineries will be featuring at the Meet the Makers wine fair at Salvare, including Hatton Estate, Bilancia, Stonecroft, Ash Ridge, Tukipo River Estate, Beach House, Sears Road, Unison, Hawkes Ridge Wine Estate, and Lime Rock.
All wineries in the group are owner operated and are producing no more than 10,000 cases of wine annually.
The cooperative nature of the Group is being highlighted in the upcoming event with a mixed case of wines available for sale – one bottle from each winery at a special case price.
The December “Meet the Makers’ wine fair gets underway at Salvare at 11am on Monday 27th December until 4pm.
