Enable Networks scoops international accolade

Award winning Christchurch fibre company Enable Networks has rocketed up the ranks of the Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 for 2010.

In an outstanding result, it has been voted the 56th fastest growing company, beating dozens of other New Zealand contenders for the spot.

The ‘Fast 500’ recognises technology companies that have achieved the fastest rates of annual revenue growth in Asia Pacific during the past three years. The index includes companies based in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
Enable Networks was one of 50 Kiwi businesses entered in the 2010 index and its performance continues a dream run for a fledging technology company that has already collected a number of significant accolades this year.

Less than two months ago the community-owned fibre specialist placed ninth in the prestigious Deloitte Fast 50 following revenue growth of 566% over three years, while also being voted as the South Island’s Fastest Growing Technology company.

Enable CEO Steve Fuller was earlier named TUANZ ICT Innovator of the Year and believes the Fast 500 ranking further justifies shareholder investment.

“This is something for our team to be very proud of. When you consider we were up against some major companies from the likes of China, Taiwan, Australia and Korea, this is a stunning result,” says Mr Fuller.

“It demonstrates that our relatively small company is performing in all respects at world class standings. Demand for our services has risen sharply towards the end of 2010 as business and service providers realise the value that our open access fibre delivers and that is also very pleasing.

“The whole essence of what we set out to achieve with Enable’s fibre network was to transform Christchurch’s telecommunications industry to enhance business, educational and community growth. That is happening very quickly – well ahead of our 2007 forecasts.

“Including contractors, our staffing level has grown to 50 since 2007 and we have close to 300km of fibre passing the doors of 75% of Christchurch businesses,” says Mr Fuller, who expects to have fibre coverage to almost 100% of all commercial areas and a further 50 schools by the end of 2011.

Hundreds of businesses, Government and health organisations, along with 60 schools are currently connected to Enable’s multi-gigabit fibre network.

Enable is now hoping for success in its bid to take fibre to all homes in the city under the Government’s ultra-fast broadband initiative. The company is among a host of New Zealand Regional Fibre Group members short-listed for negotiations.
