Subaru WRX – Performance Car of the Year
Subaru’s WRX is the AMI Insurance/NZ Autocar magazine’s Performance Car of the Year.
The quiet achiever of the high performance models, the WRX saw off all its more expensive rivals.
And Autocar’s reasoning was simple; the WRX is a great value for money package, “you get the best bang for your bucks,”
said the magazine.

The latest WRX with the same wide body and flared wheel arches as the STI looks like Subaru’s performance icon, apart
from different sized wheels, subtle badging and the size of the boot mounted wing on the sedan models.
The handling, road holding and grip have all been improved with the latest wide track suspension.
“Subaru has honed the WRX over a decade and it shows,” said the magazine. “It was the best drive of the bunch.”
For everyday use the 195 kWs and 343 Nm of torque is more than sufficient along with the invisible advantages of
Symmetrical All Wheel Drive.
This is the performance car you can also take to the shops and do all the other mundane around town chores said Autocar.
And at $45,990 it offers the best performance per dollar.
The WRX comes with 6 airbags, ABS brakes with Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-Force distribution and Vehicle Dynamics
Control. The body has ring shaped reinforcement frames with anti intrusion bars.
The WRX has a three year unlimited warranty, DataDot security, an immobiliser and alarm security system integrated into
the remote control central locking.
