$4000 Incentive to Enter Dairy Awards Early

For Immediate Release

$4000 Incentive to Enter Dairy Awards Early

The deadline is looming for people to enter the 2011 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards and be eligible for a $4000 early entry prize.

All those who enter the awards before December 10 will go into a prize draw to win a Honda XR125 Duster farm bike valued at $3995.

“Right now there’s a one-in-about-250-chances for an early entrant to take the bike home. That’s pretty good odds for what is a significant and very useful prize for an aspiring farmer,” national convenor Chris Keeping says.

“This is the best incentive we’ve had to encourage people to get their entry in early.”

Entries in the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year, New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year and New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions are being accepted online at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz and will close on December 24.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.

“Just over 240 people have entered the awards so far and we expect to get close to last year’s record numbers, when about 500 entries were received.”

She says entrants first enter one of 12 regional competitions being held around the country. The three winners from each of those regional competitions will then progress to the national final, which will be held in Queenstown in May next year.

More information on the awards can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
