SBS Bank customers vote for Hospice to receive $10,000
The news that SBS Bank customers have voted for Hospice Southland to receive $10,000 proceeds as the charity of choice for the 2011 SBS Bank Golf Invitational is like Christmas coming early, according to Hospice chief executive Nicki Kitson.
“We are incredibly grateful to SBS Bank and their customers for voting for us and can’t believe how much we have directly benefited from SBS Bank since getting on board with the wonderful Invercargill team in 2008.
“We’ve been the benefactor of the annual SBS Bank Golf Day for several years, received special investment payments through their SBS Star banking package for non-profit organisations and we just keep benefiting through our everyday contact with their wonderful staff who are so helpful and supportive of everything we do.
“It’s really heartening to experience such support from our local bank and the people in our community who continue to support Hospice Southland through initiatives like the SBS Bank Golf Invitational charity of choice concept,” Mrs Kitson said.
The donation from the March tournament would help to ensure the Hospice Southland team could continue to focus on providing support and quality of life to those suffering from an incurable illness and their families.
SBS Bank Invercargill manager Neil Bramley said the concept of being able to donate the proceeds from the annual SBS Bank Golf Invitational to a Southland-based, non-profit charitable organisation was perfectly aligned with SBS Bank’s ongoing pledge to support its customers and its communities.
“It’s brilliant to be able to ring up Nicki and her team up and let them know our SBS Bank members have voted for them to receive an additional $10,000 to boost the donations they have to source to keep operational. They provide such a valued and respected service to our community every single day.
“Hospice Southland came on board as a SBS Star account holder not too long after we launched the banking package in 2008 specifically for non-profit organisations. Now they’re reaping even more benefits as the recipient of the SBS Bank Golf Invitational proceeds.
“It is great to know that we’re now offering hundreds of non-profit Southland clubs and societies a fee-free transactional account and the opportunity to go in a draw to win one of 10 cash prizes of $1,000 every month with SBS Star. Almost 100 Southland groups have now experienced the excitement of an unexpected windfall after becoming a SBS Star monthly prize draw winner and we’ll always be looking for new improved ways of giving back even more to our customers and our communities in the future.”
The 34th SBS Bank Golf Invitational will be held at the Invercargill Golf Course on 5 and 6 March 2011. If anyone wants to be involved in the weekend as a sponsor or volunteer, they’re welcome to contact Golf Southland on 931 0082
