New country manager for Bayer CropScience

Auckland, 24 November, 2010 – Bayer New Zealand Ltd has appointed Holger Detje to head up its CropScience division
following the resignation of Jon Neal.
Originally from Germany, Detje has been with Bayer and predecessor companies for 20 years, having started his career in
a global portfolio management role in Frankfurt, Germany.
He has held senior national and regional roles in marketing, sales and business development in the UK, Australia and
Japan. For the last eight years, he has been head of marketing at Bayer CropScience in Australia.
Detje says his main focus in New Zealand will be on customer relations and innovation.
“Bayer CropScience has a great team in New Zealand that contains some of the country’s leading experts in crop
protection.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team on developing our business by introducing new innovative crop solutions
that will benefit growers and business partners alike.
“Our global research and development budget continues to grow, which means we have a strong pipeline of new products
coming onto the market each year.
“With research laboratories throughout the world, we are also fortunate to have a broad field of scientific knowledge
that we are able to utilise for developing solutions specifically for the New Zealand market.
“This places us in an ideal situation to work with the local industry here in New Zealand on providing solutions to the
many challenges we face in a rapidly maturing market – I look forward to getting on with the job and not only

Detje is based in Bayer New Zealand’s head office on Auckland’s North Shore, but will be a frequent visitor to the
company’s Christchurch office and surrounding areas.
