Simply Energy only Electricity Retailer finalist
in 2010 EECA Awards
Wellington, 23 November 2010 - The 2010 EECA awards are to be held on Thursday night 25th November at The Langham Hotel in Auckland and Simply Energy is delighted to be a finalist in the Renewable Energy category. The awards are to recognize New Zealand's most innovative energy-saving and renewable energy projects.
Murray Dyer Commercial Director for Simply Energy comments that "we are delighted to be the only electricity retailer that is a finalist in the 2010 EECA Award's. This will provide broader recognition for Simply Energy as being a very innovative retail business focused on developing value added services and structured solutions for our clients as a specialist generation retail business".
The EECA Awards celebrate organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in energy efficiency or renewable energy. This year, nearly 100 entries were received across the categories with Simply Energy in very good company with other finalists.
Simply Energy's project involved commercialising renewable energy generation projects through implementation of direct supply structures. The first of these self supply structures was between Clearwater Hydro's Mangapehi generator and Charlie's Trading Company supply arrangement.
Murray Dyer goes onto say that "since we first implemented this structure with Mangapehi we have now rolled this out to a number of clients including the Ministry for Environment's head office. This direct hedge structure has provided a mechanism to support Clearwater Hydro's business resulting in further hydro generation assets being developed by Clearwater".
Simply Energy now has 7 generation assets under management with a pipeline of new renewable energy projects that is enhancing New Zealand's clean tech sector and investment in renewable generation.
