FarmIQ appoints Chief Executive
Collier Isaacs has been appointed FarmIQ Systems’ Chief Executive. Mr Isaacs is currently Landcorp Farming Ltd’s
National Manager – Services and Strategy. He is also Chairman of DeeResearch and DeerSelect, and a Director of Deer
Industry New Zealand. He has been involved in the livestock and meat industries for most of his career – starting with
the Game Industry Board in 1989 and ultimately becoming Chief Executive in 1999. Following a short time with Meat New
Zealand, he was appointed Landcorp Corporate Strategy Manager in 2002. This role was extended in 2007 to become Services
and Strategy Manager.
FarmIQ Chairman Alison Paterson says Mr Isaacs has a broad depth and understanding of the on-farm component of the meat
industry and also the international marketplace. “His leadership skills are proven within the very diverse meat sector
and the FarmIQ partners are very pleased with his appointment.”
Mr Isaacs says he is looking forward to getting his teeth into the role, having been involved in many areas of the meat
industry over several years. “I am relishing the opportunity to lead a real and meaningful initiative, with pan sector
partners covering a large part of the value chain. I have been involved in the project design and build and have an
enormous level of confidence in what can and will be achieved.” FarmIQ Systems is the new company formed to create a
transformational integrated value chain model by way of the “plate to pasture” strategy. Silver Fern Farms, PGG
Wrightson, Landcorp Farming and the Government (via the Primary Growth Partnership) are jointly funding the seven-year
programme, which aims to turn the red meat industry’s production-led approach into one that is market-led and focused on
consumer needs.
Over the next seven years, FarmIQ Systems will be responsible for implementing seven core projects (market analysis,
database, genetics, processing phenotype collection, processing improvements, technology transfer and farm productive
capacity) to achievable outcomes. Each project is designed to build or enhance the industry’s capabilities and deliver
new technology.
