The Booms Rest Home And Hospital Achieves 4 Year Audit
The Booms Rest Home and Hospital is celebrating their recent achievement of a continuous improvement 4 Year
Certification against the Health and Disability Services Standards. Held in high regard this Certification provides
Residents and Family’s with peace of mind that they are receiving care that meets a high standard.
Each of the 45 Bupa Care Homes in New Zealand undergoes regular audit against the Standards and these reports are
available on the Bupa website www.bupa.co.nz. Audit reports for all Residential Care facilities are also available on the Ministry of Health site www.moh.govt.nz
These audits can be valuable for people looking for a care provider as this is an external check that is completed
regularly. Each Care Home within Bupa Care Services NZ undergoes regular audit against the NZ Health & Disability Sector Standards. Compliance with each of the 249 standards is rated by a standard criteria including
Continuous Improvement where criterion are fully attained, with the service demonstrating continued review and
improvement.

do things. We are proud to have achieved our 4 Year Certification” said Sharen Landy, Facility Manager.
The audit result reinforces what the residents at The Booms think as well. Results from the regular residents survey’s
show that 93% of residents are very satisfied with The Booms.
A purpose-built home The Booms opened in 1992 and is home to 68 residents. Known in the local community for its homely
atmosphere and person centred care. Located in Thames, the rest home and hospital overlooks the valley and is close to
all amenities which allows for regular resident outings and activities in the community.
