Datacraft and McAfee Partner to bring Cloud Security to New Zealand

Promising enhanced protection, reduced complexity, and lower cost of ownership

New Zealand, 15th November 2010 – Datacraft, a leading specialist IT solutions and services provider, has partnered with McAfee, the world’s largest dedicated security technology supplier, to launch a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) Security platform in New Zealand. The solutions, being launched this week, are designed to protect enterprises from email and web based threats in the cloud before they can reach the corporate network.

Datacraft is currently offering this as a stand-alone service with the intent to extend it to one.govt and one.biz in the near future.

The new SaaS security platform will initially launch two complementary security services - McAfee SaaS Email Security and McAfee SaaS Web Security. The services protect against real-time Internet and email-borne threats by leveraging McAfee Global Threat Intelligence, which is a global network made up of millions of threat sensors and more than 350 security scientists and experts from around the world. As the services are delivered in the Cloud, they do not require any hardware or software, providing New Zealand businesses a highly scalable, low-cost way to manage email and web security.

Phil Goodwin, General Manager - Marketing at Datacraft says the offering leverages the global strategic partnership between McAfee and Datacraft’s parent company, Dimension Data.

“This partnership brings significant value to the New Zealand government and business markets and builds on the value that Datacraft can bring through our global relationships with our key partners such as McAfee.

“Where traditionally service providers have modified commercial software to fill the gap in security, our partnership with McAfee has enabled us to produce a service developed from the ground-up to address the security needs of New Zealand business.

“The transition to cloud services will mean that businesses can reap the benefits of the full service without incurring the cost of building their own infrastructure. With Datacraft’s expertise as a network integrator and McAfee’s in security services, we can equip businesses with reliable, best-of-breed and most up-to-date security features at minimal cost.” says Goodwin.

Richard Bowman, Director, Security as a Service at McAfee says the service will take a tremendous burden off the hands businesses.

“The key advantage of this is that is can be implemented almost immediately, with zero hardware costs and minimal on-going operational requirements. It can also increase overall security since it allows businesses to put their focus on where it is needed, and have McAfee specialists with global experience help them maximise their security capabilities.

“The service is based on the same scalable, globally delivered SaaS architecture that powers the industry-leading McAfee SaaS Email and SaaS Web security solutions globally and we are very excited to be bringing this cutting-edge technology to New Zealand businesses and Government in partnership with Datacraft,” Bowman says.

The SaaS platform will feature advanced reporting across both the McAfee SaaS Email and McAfee SaaS Web solutions through a single portal. In addition, the SaaS platform will provide automated policy enforcement and granular controls over email and web security information and usage. It will also give the ability to secure remote offices and mobile users with the same centralised management. Datacraft is also considering future services to complement this offering such as SaaS email encryption and enforcement as well as enhanced email continuity options.

one.govt is the Open Network Environment telecommunications service that connects the offices of government agencies using leading edge technology launched in December 2009. Already more than 400 offices from 18 agencies are using the Cisco powered one.govt network and enjoying its advantages. The one.biz offering will bring the same services and solutions to the enterprise and business market and is scheduled to be launched later this year.

Datacraft is currently the only McAfee Service Provider Partner in New Zealand.
