AMCHAM welcomes U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to Christchurch Reception for US Exporters and NZ Importers
Friday, 5 November 2010
US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is the guest of honour at an AMCHAM exporters’ and importers’ reception being held in Christchurch today.
Executive Director Mike Hearn said it was a privilege to host Secretary Clinton following the signing yesterday of the Wellington Declaration which is expected to bring regular high level talks, and greater cooperation in the Pacific, on climate change, trade and scientific exchanges.
Mr Hearn said “The specific inclusion of trade as an area for future co-operation is a particularly encouraging development for the many AMCHAM members with close business links to the United States. AMCHAM works constantly to enable positive relationships between the two countries and the signing of the Wellington declaration is a positive and historic step forward which will assist our members in their business mission. “
“Secretary Clinton’s decision to spend time with AMCHAM members and supporters in Christchurch today reflects the importance which she places on building positive trade ties with New Zealand.” said Mr Hearn.
AMCHAM would like to thank the following supporters: Westpac, Pfizer, Christchurch International Airport, Fonterra, Ernst & Young and Constellation Wines.
