Deloitte announces new leader of financial service

Deloitte announces new leader of financial services practice

Deloitte, the world’s largest professional services firm, has today announced the appointment of Michael Tang as leader of its New Zealand financial services practice.

Mr Tang, who will be based in Auckland, was previously a partner with Deloitte in Toronto, Canada, where he began his career with the firm in 1997.

Deloitte New Zealand chief executive Murray Jack says Mr Tang offers a wealth of experience and knowledge of the banking and insurance sectors and he will be “a conduit” for New Zealand businesses to draw on Deloitte’s global expertise.

“The financial services industry has undergone significant change in the past couple of years, globally and here in New Zealand, and it is critical to take advantage of trends and technologies to transform organisations and improve productivity.”

His appointment also significantly strengthens Deloitte’s service offering for the financial services industry, with the practice now incorporating specialists from actuarial services, assurance, consulting, and enterprise risk, as well as a range of specialist data analytics services.

Mr Tang offers particular expertise in the areas of cost reduction initiatives, outsourcing advisory services, target operating models, business and IT alignment, and talent acquisition, growth and development.

“Clients want advice that is authentic and transparent, and clearly aligned to a goal or outcome. My objective is to assist our clients by bringing the full breadth the global Deloitte firm to the local market and providing them with executable and implementable advice,” Mr Tang says.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering and Management degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
