Two Young Kiwis Receive ANZ Skipper Scholarship

ANZ bank today announced that two young New Zealanders have jointly been awarded a $10 000 scholarship to help them become skippers.

The two recipients, Lynise Eden from Ashburton and Scott Fletcher from Tauranga are members of New Zealand’s seafood industry and will share the ANZ scholarship to help them become qualified skippers.

New Zealand Seafood Industry Council Chief Executive, Peter Bodeker said it was a wonderful opportunity that ANZ has provided for these two young members of New Zealand’s seafood industry.

“We would like to thank ANZ for providing this scholarship which will enable the two recipients’ progress their careers,” he said.

Lynise Eden will use her scholarship to fund the course component of the Inshore Launchmaster qualification. This will allow her to become a coastal fishing skipper.

Scott Fletcher will use his scholarship to fund the course component of the Offshore Watchkeeper course He started out in a fishing factory and has already achieved a number of qualifications.

The scholarship was announced by ANZ at the New Zealand Seafood Industry Conference in May this year and both recipients will use the scholarship to continue their studies in the New Year.
