Quake Relief Fund Boosted by Contact Contribution
The Red Cross Canterbury Earthquake Appeal has grown by $500,000 thanks to Contact Energy which made the donation as part of its pledged support of $1 million to the people of Christchurch.
Managing Director David Baldwin said he and his staff at Contact Energy wanted to help both the wider community and any of the more than 50,000 Contact electricity and LPG customers in Christchurch.
“So much needs to be done in the region and the donation to the fund is the most effective way we can support the communities affected. This will ensure that appropriate, targeted support can be provided where it is needed”, said Mr Baldwin.
“We know some of our customers have been hit hard and we want to extend a hand in support where we can. Contact has established a fund to help them get their businesses, their homes and their lives back on track and we will be promoting this to our customers throughout the region.
“I want to assure the people of Canterbury that not only are our thoughts and best wishes with them, but that through our pledge of support, we are committed to assisting the region back on to its feet”, said David Baldwin.
