A Great Night For Natural Habitats

Natural Habitats and our clients scooped up 28 awards and no fewer than six gold’s at the 2010 “Landscapes of Distinction Awards”

It was a great night for Natural Habitats at the 2010 Landscaping New Zealand “Landscapes of Distinction Awards” hosted in Dunedin this month.

The biennial awards celebrate excellence amongst Landscaping New Zealand members, namely professional landscapers, all of whom have been selected for their high standard of business practice and the quality of their landscaping work.

Natural Habitats continued its 32 year winning streak, with 9 Of 11 landscapes entered winning multiple awards. Of the nine seven were residential and two were commercial landscapes (The Parc and Botany Garden Lane).

The big awards went to The Parc, an urban green roof oasis in the heart of Auckland CBD, which was awarded the Lockwood Homes Best Sustainable Landscape Practice Award as well as silver for design and a bronze for horticulture. Having won silver at the 2010 NZILA awards The Parc looks set to be a precedent for green roof design in New Zealand.

The Russell Garden, Auckland also took out Best Design for a Large Project and won two golds for design and construction and silver for horticulture. This garden celebrates the rustic cedar weatherboard house, the client’s personalities and their love of golf” says designer Mark Read.

The Bradley Garden, won three gold awards for each of design, construction and horticulture. A difficult site, this new garden transitions beautifully over two levels encompassing a range of outdoor living spaces, clever lighting and a striking poolscape.

With the awards spread across five categories; design (7 Awards), construction (8 awards), horticulture (7 awards), garden management (3 awards) and special feature (1 award). “It pays homage to who we are and what we do,” says Graham Cleary director of Natural Habitats. “To create outstanding landscapes you need to have quality across all areas of design – build – care and that is what we aim for in every one of our projects”, adds Cleary.

Natural Habitats is passionate about landscape. Over the last 30 years Natural Habitats has grown to become one of New Zealand’s leading landscape companies, and is also at the forefront of green roof and wall technology in New Zealand. In providing the complete landscape design and implementation service Natural Habitats brings the same level of consideration to the possibilities of a small inner-city garden as we do to the largest commercial or public landscaping project.
