Kiwis Double Benefit For Uk And Europe Travel

MEDIA RELEASE
30 September 2010

Kiwis Double Benefit For Uk And Europe Travel

With cheap airfares to Europe now on sale and the New Zealand dollar continuing to soar against the Great British Pound, now has never been a better time for Kiwis to book their 2011 United Kingdom (UK) and Europe travel.

New Zealand’s largest travel retailer, Flight Centre, has compared airfares to the UK and Europe pre and post the global financial crisis. The company has also compared currency fluctuations over the past three years, and as a result is urging Kiwis to take advantage of this double whammy to ensure they get the very best airfare and holiday deals. Flight Centre spokesperson, James Brooker explains;

“Airfare prices to the UK and Europe are still well below levels seen before the global financial crisis, with many fares under $2,000 New Zealand dollars. This is exceptional value.

“With more people travelling long-haul again, there is going to be significantly less availability going forward, which inevitably means prices will rise again and it will be harder to find seats on preferred days. For these reasons we’re urging Kiwis to get in early to lock in the best priced airfare on the dates you want to travel,” Mr Brooker said.

The New Zealand dollar is still buying exceptional value against the Great British Pound, which means fantastic hotel, car rental and rail travel rates, along with increased spending money for Kiwis.

“On 19 September 2007 the Kiwi dollar was buying just 35 pence, while on 30 September 2010 the Kiwi dollar is buying 46 pence – this currency movement means massive savings for New Zealand travellers,” Mr Brooker said.
