SAP Rapid Deployment nothing new in NZ
SAP’s recently announced Rapid Deployment software applications are nothing new to local companies, says SAP
implementation partner Soltius New Zealand.
The Rapid Deployment applications for SAP CRM, SRM and BCM have been launched in North America and German-speaking
countries and SAP says they can be rolled out in as little as 12 weeks.
But Soltius Director Nick Mulcahy says Soltius has been using same approach for more than 6 years to implement full SAP
ERP - including one case where the project was completed in 11 weeks, at New Zealand technology company Rakon.
“This is really a repackaging of the Best Practices approach we have successfully used for a number of years, with
preconfigured solutions and a tightly defined scope. This Rapid Deployment model is a great way to get early value and
we are already fielding interest from some of our customers, for the Rapid Deployment CRM in particular.”
Crucially, says Mr. Mulcahy, the licensing for the Rapid Deployment solutions are better suited to the New Zealand
market.
“Licensing for SAP CRM and SRM solutions has traditionally been geared towards the US and European markets, where mid
size companies are much bigger than what we consider to be mid size here. This puts SAP in reach for a lot more New
Zealand organisations.”
To get the expected value, however, an implementation must be tightly controlled. “Companies need to fully understand
the scope before embarking on the project,” he says, “because any deviations from the template will undermine the time
to value.”
